Food comes in two main forms in [[Occupy Mars: The Game]]: Processed Food (MREs) and raw food (Crops).

The first food available upon landing in the [[Survival Capsule]] will be the Meals-Ready-to-Eat (MRE). A quantity of them will be located in an overhead compartment as well as in the player's inventory. This quantity will allow the player to survive for a few days. They can also be found in abandoned bases throughout the world and have a nutrition range of 36-48.

Also within the Capsule will be found the [[Planting Tool]] and a [[Seed Magazine]] with [[Potato]] Seeds. These can be utilized together to cultivate potato plants in the [[:Category:Plant Incubators|Plant Incubator]]. After growing to Stage Two, the potato plants need to be transferred to a [[Small Hydroponic Shelf]]. A [[:Category:Plant Crates|Plant Crate]] can be utilized to expedite this process. When at full maturity, the potatoes may be harvested.

The raw potato can then be processed in the [[Food Processing Unit]] to create MREs. These packages can combine up to four crops, either the same or different and do not spoil like raw plant crops do.
